WELCOME TO THE AWARDS PAGE

PRIOR AWARDS:

1

Well, I can’t quite believe I’ve been given a new award!  How surprising is that considering that I’m not posting as usual recently.  But many thanks to FayeLucinda over here for sticking with me and understanding the chaos right now. I’ll be back to more regular postings in just a few weeks.  In the meantime, you seriously need to check out her blog.   She does books, fashion, art, travel, and just so many subjects all in one place.    It’s well worth a look.

To fulfill the requirements of the award, here are my 7 facts:

1. I am a bookworm and I think the e-reader is THE BEST invention ever!
2. I very much enjoy people a bit older than me. I really enjoy hearing stories about where they’ve been and what they’ve done and seen.
3. I love movies with Colin Firth. He is tops!
5. I am sick of moving. I am a homebody and like to stay in one place.
6. I love snow. (Good thing with my recent relocation!)
4. I hope to live in Canada one day. (I just don’t want to have to move to do it!)
7. The two best trips of my life so far were Disney World in 2011 and London/Paris in 2013.

My new nominees (in no certain order) for this award are:

Well, a HUGE thank you to

Lydia Devadason – An Idiot’s Guide to Parenting, found here, for nominating me for my first ever award, the Liebster Award!     I am humbled in her greatness, but absolutely appreciate the vote of confidence!   I am VERY NEW to blogging and as such very new to Lydia’s blog (and any other blog for that matter).   But Lydia takes a bad day and finds a way to make it into a plus for everyone else.  I especially enjoy her ongoing parenting dictionary!

In acceptance of this award, I have to answer the following questions:

What inspired you to start a blog?                                                                                                            I was advised by the powers-at-be in my writing club to begin a blog.   Having never blogged before or considered this, it has been a really big learning curve!   I learn something new every time I’m on here!

Do any of your close ‘real’ friends blog?                                                                                            No

Have you had any strange, embarrassing or frightening blogging experiences?     Not as of yet, but give me time, I’ve only been on here a few weeks now.

If eating at a restaurant, what would be your favourite meal – with or without dessert?  I have very simple tastes.  I’m not big on pomp and circumstance with food.   It’s just a means to keep myself going.   So fast and easy is the name of the game with my meals.

If money was no option, what would be your perfect holiday destination?                         I love Canada.  It’s where I head every time I get the chance.  But……if money were not an object and time and responsibility were not issues, then I would have to say underwater diving into some of the world’s beautiful caves to take pictures would be the ultimate.

If money was no option, what would be your perfect evening’s entertainment?  Actually, again, nothing hugely outrageous, but my husband, son, and I currently find magic shows to be a great evening’s entertainment.    Also very much enjoy humourous  theatre (i.e. We just saw STOMP in London and very much enjoyed that!)

What’s your favourite word?                                                                                                                   What a question!   How could you ever pick just one?   Could you name your favourite cloud in the sky or colour of the rainbow?    A few words that I’m currently enamoured of are: hence, medieval, and ghastly.

What quality do you think friends appreciate most in you?                                            Probably people appreciate that I always am responsible to do what I say that I will.

What personality characteristic do you find the most off-putting or irritating in others?                                                                                                                                                                    Ugh, read my blog, “A Bug’s Life,” where I address this very topic….people who don’t know when to go away.  Or in another of my writings, I address the lack of manners in the face of technology.  How about pet peeve instead?   People who do not spell correctly and people that do not use apostrophes correctly.

How would you like to be remembered by those you care about?                                             I would like to be remembered as someone that made a difference to people, someone that added something unique though they were behind-the-scenes in most cases, but someone who really had a different way of approaching things that was beneficial to all involved. It would be nice to remembered for my love of taking pictures or writing, but on the whole, I’m content if they just know I cared very much and made a difference.

What is your favourite holiday destination?                                                                                     Think I already answered this one above…Canada, but also very much like London, and a fan of WDW in Florida.

My nominations (only a few since I have just started blogging) for the Liebster Award go to the following:

amforte66 @ greatsnaps, goodreads, and me….   http://wp.me/3zELw

gluestickmum @  http://wp.me/4eMT3

The Teen Venacular @  http://wp.me/4t16l

Yorkville Xpress @ http://wp.me/4mZw6

What they need to do is:

1. Thank the lovely blogger who nominated you. Then, copy and paste the award onto your blog.
2. Answer the questions I’ve asked.
3. Nominate 11 other blogs (with less than 500 followers).
4. Post 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
5. Let your nominees know that you’ve chosen them by sending them a comment.

My questions for you are:

Do you have any phobias?

What is something that you always have in your refrigerator?

What is the biggest personal change you’ve ever made?

How many times have you moved?

What is the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

If you had to pick a book title in print right now to sum up your life, what would it be?

If you could rename yourself, what name would you pick?

Who is the person you would most like to emulate in life?

If someone asked you for a random piece of advice, what would you tell them?

What is the best joke you’ve ever played on someone?

What is something you’ve tried, but would never try again?

    • I was quite proud of award! Never knew people got awards for blogging. But was actually more impressed someone actually read my blog to know I was here to give me award! LOL. Anyway, my club only meets once a week and not on first week of the month so right now at least, I’m only posting once a week. At least, though I’m not overwhelming to keep up with ! Looking forward to more of your posts as well! They’re always enjoyable!

    • Ah yes….right now I am knee deep in boxes and so tired I can’t believe I’m still awake. This relocation is taking alot of extra energy and time and sadly…no time to write. However, I miss it and I’ll be back as soon as I can think again. Am hoping for a different approach in a different place, so we’ll see where it ends up. Thank you so much for reading and encouraging! I really needed that right now!

  2. Thank you for that nomination! And I’m sorry for all of the confusion I caused… What am I like? I’m going to edit mine and include your nomination! I loved this blog, and it was interesting to learn more about you! I love snow too! What is life without a snowball fight?

    • Marla, I am so happy to have you as my blogging buddy. I think you know how much I look forward to your posts and your comments on my own posts. Thank you so much for including me in your list of “honorees” and those that you feel in tune with. I just took it upon myself with the last award I was given to become an “award free” blogger from there on out. That said, it means the world to me that you thought of me and included me in this. We’ll still be Sister Bloggers and hopefully still support each other along the way on here! Thank you again.

      • I agree – wen went alone as a couple in 2002 –and the. Down in Florida a few years later we insisted our cousins had to see it – so we went again – better the first time in SF – the atmosphere was better – but both so good – and how cool to catch it in London!

        • It was indeed very cool to catch it in London, but don’t you think the first time you see something anywhere is always going to be the coolest time you see it? I think the element of surprise and not knowing totally what to expect just adds that little bit of excitement that can’t be duplicated at a second viewing. Still, you were very lucky to catch it twice….you’ll remember details I never even picked up on only having seen it once.

          • Yeah I know what u mean but sometimes seeing it a second or third time allows one to assess and critique and maybe appreciate even more – esp if good – like I have seen some musicals a few times – but I do know what u mean about the wonder and impression the first time can leave – and with us – the SF o e was better because the theatre was small / and we were so close to almost feel the dust from a few broom strokes – but far enough to see the whole stage – we also were new to San Jose and sneaking out to SF was a needed date night and getting dressed up after mom swears felt good – compare this to the Florida Stomp – we were traveling and maybe overstimulated – had gone from east coast of fl to west coast to panhandle (destin) and if this all sounds like a blast – it was a big family visit and as beautiful as Florida is – been there done it was the mood – and then being with my cousins was good – but the Tampa theatre was this also my arts complex and nice – but huge – we had black y seats and the lighting was so-so – sill great but a 5 compared to the 10 in SF (and should I tell u about my celebrity sighting at the stomp in SF?)

              • Ok – Steven Spielberg ! He was across the aisle and one row back in this small theatre – exchanged eye contact at least 3 times – and my old roommate in early 90s was doing some film stuff and had a bunch of photos of Spielberg hanging up for months / so I knew that face – and while it never really matters that much to me – because I worked in places where celebs came and went – I still think it is fun – even though sometimes people look like someone else too /

              • Yes, I think you’re right….I have that same side though I’ve never thought of it as a Thoreau side before…..like your perspective. Thanks so much for the kind words about the lifeguard post…..makes it easier to know what resonates best! Happy New Year to you and your family….I hope it’s your best one ever!
